MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Gaming Twin Frozr V Graphics Card Review

Many of our readers use their HTPC media centres for multiple media types including both movies and gaming. The issue with these two media types is that high end games require performance hardware which more often than not creates noise and this noise can interfere with movie enjoyment. We have set ourself the task of reviewing some high end graphics cards that offer significant noise reduction and we have found a great contender in the MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V. This is a graphics card that offers the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 chipset but with advanced cooling technologies and noise reduction.

MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V Performance

At the time of writing this post the MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V is one of the top graphics cards on the market and if you are prepared to pay for it, it will deliver the gaming experience you want. It will play the most graphically demanding games like Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Ryse: Sons of Rome in their top resolutions. With the performance this card offers you will get a decent degree of future proofing also.

All of the later generation games console emulators like PCSX2 (Playstation 2) and the Wii Gamecube Emulator Dolphin will run seamlessly. Although at this stage we cannot confirm whether or not the PS3 Emulator RPCS3 will run on the MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V as it is still heavily in development the likelihood is it will. The MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V will deliver the ultimate gaming experience to your HTPC media centre.

MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V Cooling Technologies

The Twin Frozr V technology built into the MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V results in over 10% lower running temperatures than other GTX 970 graphics card models. The system uses two smaller fans as opposed to a single larger fan which creates less noise. The blades of the fans are designed for maximum airflow. These are built upon a cleverly designed heat sink which covers all components of the card and a network of heat pipes running through this. Heat is moved efficiently away from your components and dispersed. Now the beauty of MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V cooling system for HTPC media centres is its silent running capabilities. The fans only spin when temperatures hit a level that requires them and as both fans work independently of each other that doesn’t always mean both of them. If you are using your media centre to watch a film the cooling system can shut itself down and remain on standby until needed.

The MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr has one of the lowest running temperatures on the market and could mean less additional collers are required saving space in your case.

MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V Advanced Technologies

The MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Twin Frozr V comes with the MSI Gaming App allowing you to customise the functionality of your graphics card. Here you can choose from the clock speeds mentioned earlier, adjust the contrasts of your display and even customise the flickering of the LED dragon on the graphics card itself. The software is surprisingly easy to use and allows you to set your card exactly how you want it. Over clocking the card using the MSI Gaming App is covered by warranty.
